MY ROLE
UX Researcher
Product Designer
Introduction
We're creating a mobile app to motivate people with alcohol-related issues to reduce their drinking. This project is a comprehensive UX/UI design initiative within the growing health and wellness sector. It caters to those looking to lead a healthier life by adjusting their alcohol consumption habits, without quitting altogether.
My Role
As part of the design team my role will be to follow and implement the investigation and design processes.
Problem
Based on the growing general interest in adopting a healthier lifestyle due to the popularization of fitness and dietary consciousness, some individuals seek to modify their alcohol consumption habits to lead a healthier life without completely abstaining from alcohol
“How can we create an app that helps users to understand and to control they alcohol consumption in order to have an healthier lifestyle?”
Goal
Enhancing User Engagement through Gamification
The goal is to improve user engagement and retention in our fitness app by implementing gamification elements, such as challenges, rewards, and leaderboards, to make the user experience more interactive and motivating
User Research
Market Research
We conducted market research to understand industry trends and identified our target demographic.

method used
Surveys
We conducted an initial online survey with 200 participants in our target demographic, focusing on individuals aged 18-30 residing in Spain who consume alcohol occasionally. The survey helped us gather quantitative data on drinking habits, motivations, and pain points.
In-Depth Interviews
To gain deeper insights into user behaviors and attitudes, we conducted 20 in-depth interviews with individuals from our target audience. These interviews were structured and semi-structured, allowing us to explore topics such as their goals, challenges, and attitudes towards alcohol consumption.
Insights Gained
Drink Tracking Motivation
The survey revealed that our target users primarily sought quick and easy drink tracking for occasional use. They were concerned about monitoring their caloric intake and were interested in having an approximate Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) indicator to avoid excessive drinking
Long-Term Monitoring
Interviews highlighted a need for long-term alcohol habit monitoring. Users expressed a desire to set personalized daily drink limits and receive notifications to help them stay within those limits.
Social Aspect
Users cared about socializing and having fun, and they were concerned about getting too drunk and the associated negative consequences. They valued features that promoted responsible drinking during social events.

Competitive Analysis
In comparing with other apps, we noticed that some have a lengthy onboarding process with around 40 screens and extensive functionality. They often focus on the money-saving aspect of reduced alcohol consumption but lack information about health risks. In contrast, our app maintains a clean UI and aims to be a mix between a tracking app and a long-term tracking app.

Core Features
Streamlined Wellness Tracking
Our core features offer effortless drink tracking for occasional use, ensuring simplicity and ease. We also provide a caloric intake check and an approximate BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) indicator to prevent excessive drinking. Expect personalized suggestions to limit alcohol usage and long-term habit monitoring for a comprehensive wellness journey. Our value proposition is the fusion of the best features from BAC calculation and sobriety apps into one powerful solution
